Denise Malan is interim executive director and CEO of the Institute for Nonprofit News. She joined the institute (formerly the Investigative News Network) in June 2013 as director of data services, coordinating editorial projects among the organizations 100 member newsrooms. As a newspaper journalist for more than 10 years, Malan covered government, education,politics, the environment and enterprise stories on a variety of subjects. Malan has won dozens of writing awards during her career, including several from the Associated Press Managing Editors and a best enterprise story award from Scripps. She was data/investigative editor at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times in Texas for three years, managing a staff of four investigative reporters.
